A Quick Recap: What Is Medisave?
Medisave is one of the three accounts under Singapore’s Central Provident Fund (CPF). Every working Singaporean and Permanent Resident contributes a portion of their salary to Medisave, which can then be used to pay for approved medical and surgical expenses — including certain dental procedures.
Not all dental treatments qualify for Medisave. The key rule is that the procedure must be surgical in nature to be Medisave-eligible. Routine care such as fillings, scaling and polishing, braces, and teeth whitening are not claimable. However, several common dental surgeries carry substantial Medisave claimable amounts that can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
What Dental Treatments Are Medisave Claimable in 2026?
The following surgical dental treatments remain fully claimable under Medisave. Here is what you can expect at Trust Dental Surgery:
| Treatment | Cost (before GST) | Medisave Claimable | You Pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Osstem Implant | $2,449 | Up to $1,950 | From $499 |
| Straumann Implant | $3,449 | Up to $1,950 | From $1,499 |
| Dentium Implant | $2,449 | Up to $1,950 | From $499 |

| Gum Surgery | From $500 | Claimable | Varies |
| All-on-4 Implants | From $18,800/arch | Up to $5,310 | From $13,490 |
Note that all prices are before 9% GST. Final fees depend on the complexity of your case and will be confirmed after a clinical assessment.
Key Medisave Updates for 2026
Flexi-MediSave Increase for Seniors
Under the Healthier SG initiative, the government has progressively increased Flexi-MediSave withdrawal limits for Singaporeans aged 60 and above. This scheme allows seniors to use Medisave for outpatient treatments — including non-surgical dental procedures — up to $200 per year. This can be applied toward treatments like root canal therapy, scaling, and polishing at Trust Dental.
If you are a Pioneer Generation or Merdeka Generation member, you may receive additional subsidies and top-ups to your Medisave account. Read our Pioneer Generation dental benefits guide to see how these stack with regular Medisave claims.
Dental Implants Remain Fully Covered
The Medisave claim limit for dental implants remains at up to $1,950 per implant. This applies regardless of the implant brand, so whether you choose an Osstem, Dentium, or premium Straumann implant, the maximum you can withdraw from Medisave is the same. At Trust Dental, an Osstem or Dentium implant costs $2,449 before GST, meaning your out-of-pocket expense after Medisave can be as low as $499.
Wisdom Tooth Surgery: 100% Claimable
Surgical wisdom tooth extraction remains one of the most generous Medisave categories. You can claim up to $1,250 per tooth, which covers the full cost of most wisdom tooth surgeries at Trust Dental (priced between $350 and $1,250 per tooth before GST). For many patients, this means zero out-of-pocket cost for the procedure itself. Read our complete Medisave dental guide for step-by-step claiming instructions.
Using a Family Member’s Medisave
You are not limited to your own Medisave account. Immediate family members — your spouse, children, parents, and grandparents — can authorise the use of their Medisave to pay for your eligible dental surgery. This is especially helpful for younger patients who may not have built up a large Medisave balance, or for retirees drawing on a spouse’s account. At Trust Dental, our admin team handles all the Medisave paperwork for you.
Treatments That Are NOT Medisave Claimable
It is worth noting which common dental treatments fall outside Medisave coverage. These include routine fillings and dental restorations, scaling and polishing, orthodontic treatment such as braces and Invisalign, cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening and veneers, and dentures (non-surgical). For these treatments, CHAS subsidies and Flexi-MediSave (for eligible seniors) may help offset the cost. See our CHAS dental subsidies guide for more details.
How to Maximise Your Medisave for Dental Care
To get the most out of your Medisave this year, consider the following tips:
- Combine Medisave with CHAS subsidies — if you hold a CHAS Blue or Orange card, you may receive additional subsidies on top of Medisave claims, further reducing your out-of-pocket costs.
- Claim per tooth, not per visit — for wisdom tooth surgery, the Medisave limit applies per tooth. If you need multiple wisdom teeth removed, each tooth gets its own claim allocation.
- Use family members’ Medisave — do not let insufficient personal Medisave balance stop you from getting treatment. Family pooling is straightforward at Trust Dental.
- Seniors: use Flexi-MediSave first — if you are 60 or above and need both a surgical and a non-surgical procedure, use Flexi-MediSave for the outpatient portion and standard Medisave for the surgery.
- Plan ahead for implants — if you have lost a tooth and are considering an implant, doing it sooner rather than later prevents bone loss and may simplify the procedure, keeping costs lower.
