What Does CHAS Blue Cover for Dental?

The Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) Blue card is available to Singaporean households with a monthly per capita income of $800 or below (or an Annual Value of property of $13,000 or below for those without income). It provides the highest subsidy tier for dental treatments at CHAS-accredited clinics.

CHAS Blue dental subsidies cover these common treatments:

How Much Can You Save with CHAS Blue?

CHAS Blue card holders receive the highest subsidies — up to $63.50 per visit for common treatments and an annual cap of $310 for dental care. Denture subsidies go up to $426 per denture. These subsidies are applied automatically at participating clinics like Trust Dental Surgery when you present your CHAS card and NRIC.

CHAS Blue card holders receive the most generous subsidies. While exact amounts depend on the treatment, here is a general overview:

Subsidy typeAmount (CHAS Blue)
Per-visit subsidy (filling, extraction, scaling)Up to $63.50 per visit
Annual dental subsidy capUp to $310 per year
Denture subsidyUp to $426 per denture

These subsidies can bring the out-of-pocket cost of routine dental visits down to very little — sometimes close to zero for basic treatments like a simple cleaning or filling.

What Is NOT Covered by CHAS Dental Subsidies?

CHAS dental subsidies do not cover cosmetic treatments (teeth whitening, veneers), orthodontics (braces, Invisalign), dental implant surgery, surgical wisdom tooth extraction, or gum surgery. Surgical procedures like implants and wisdom tooth surgery are covered by Medisave instead. CHAS only applies to routine dental care at participating clinics.

While CHAS Blue covers many everyday dental treatments, some procedures are excluded:

For treatments not covered by CHAS, you may be able to use Medisave for qualifying surgical procedures. For example, wisdom tooth surgery is 100% Medisave-claimable up to $1,250 per tooth.

Can You Combine CHAS with Medisave?

Yes, CHAS and Medisave serve different purposes and can be used together where applicable. CHAS covers routine dental treatments at the point of care, while Medisave covers qualifying surgical procedures such as wisdom tooth surgery, dental implants, and gum surgery.

For example, a CHAS Blue card holder needing both a dental cleaning and a wisdom tooth removal could use their CHAS subsidy for the cleaning and Medisave for the surgery — maximising their savings across both schemes.

How to Use Your CHAS Card at Trust Dental

Bring your CHAS card and NRIC to either our Jurong West or Clementi clinic. The subsidy is deducted automatically at the point of payment — no claim forms or advance paperwork required. Your dentist will confirm which treatments are CHAS-eligible during your consultation.

Using your CHAS card at Trust Dental Surgery is straightforward:

  1. Bring your CHAS Blue card and NRIC to your appointment.
  2. Inform the front desk that you would like to use your CHAS subsidy.
  3. The subsidy is applied automatically — you only pay the remaining balance after the subsidy is deducted.

Both our Jurong West and Clementi clinics are CHAS-accredited, so you can use your card at either location. No pre-approval is needed for subsidised treatments.
