What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implant is a tooth replacement appliance that is made up of medical-grade titanium which will be inserted into the jaw bone to replicate the function of an actual tooth.

In recent years, dental implants are a popular choice in Singapore for replacing missing teeth. This is because dental implants does not require the trimming of any of your natural teeth. The implant is independent and functions just like your own teeth. As it is fixed in your jawbone, the maintenance of the dental implant is easy with flossing and brushing. Of course, regularly dental check up is also important to keep your dental implant and surrounding gums clean and healthy.

A dental implant is made up of 3 components -CROWN, ABUTMENT and FIXTURE

Each implant is specially customised to suit the patient's oral condition. For example, the dental implant crown comes with a few materials that you can choose from namely - Zirconia and PFM (Porcelain Fused Metal). Each material comes with its pros and cons but not to worry! Our dentists are trained to advise you on which material will be more suitable for your needs.

Types of Implants

We can use implants in a few different methods to help you achieve the most ideal teeth replacement results.

What is a Single Tooth Implant

The most common of dental implant cases that we often encountered. After a thorough oral examination and if the patient is suitable for a dental implant, our dentist will proceed to replace the void left by the missing tooth with a dental implant. This whole surgery usually takes about 30-60mins and the patient will be able to leave the clinic after the end of the surgery.

What is a Dental Implant Supported Bridge

When missing multiple teeth, a dental implant supported bridge will be very helpful for this situation. For example, a patient is missing 3 teeth in a row. Instead of having 3 single dental implant. A dental implant supported bridge consists of 2 single dental implant and a 3 unit dental crown will be able to achieve similar results for a more affordable price! The bridge will be supported by 2 dental implants anchored on both ends of the dental bridge.

What is a Dental Implant Supported Dentures

For patients who are missing a whole set of teeth and they are unable to get used to wearing a full set denture, an implant supported denture might just be the solution they need.

Depending on their oral condition, one might need 2-4 dental implants to be inserted into their jawbone. Thereafter, a full arch denture will be placed on top of the dental implants keeping the full arch denture firmly in place.

What is a Pro Arch / All on 4 Dental Implants

This treatment is designed for patients who are missing multiple teeth or are in need of a full arch restoration. It utilizes a combination of dental implants and fixed dental prostheses to provide a secure, functional, and aesthetic replacement for natural teeth.

The Pro Arch solution typically involves placing four or more implants in the jawbone, which serve as a stable foundation for a full dental bridge or overdenture. This technique is often referred to as "All-on-4" when exactly four implants are used, though the number can vary depending on the specific needs and bone conditions of the patient.
